Alexander Technique Resources, All in One Place
Curious to learn more? Here's a great place to start: AlexanderTechnique.com, known as "The Complete Guide to the Alexander Technique." It's been online since 1997, and it remains the most thorough single resource on the Technique that I know of.
What will you find there? Almost everything. There are clear explanations of the Technique and its benefits, an overview of the scientific research and medical endorsements behind it, and a walk-through of what actually happens during a lesson. There's a whole section on body mapping, plus applications pages covering posture, pain, stress, breathing, sports, pregnancy, and a dedicated section for performers and musicians. If you're curious about the man behind the method, there's a biography of F.M. Alexander himself and guides to his original books.
The site also hosts introductory videos and podcasts, so if reading isn't your preferred way of learning, you can watch or listen instead. I've included one of their videos you can get a feel for the Technique before you dive into an individual lesson, a workshop, oe schedule a session.
Think of this site as your reference shelf. The place to come back to when a question pops up between lessons, or when you want to understand more about how ease of action, breath, and freedom of movement connect to something you're already living with, whether that's chronic tension, performance nerves, or simply wanting to move through your day with a little more comfort.
